GROUNDED YACHT LEADS TO LAUNCH FOR COWES LIFEBOAT

A report from a bystander that a 28-foot yacht appeared to need assistance in Newtown Creek led to the launching of Cowes RNLI lifeboat late last (Tuesday) night. On arrival, the lifeboat crew found the yacht aground and at a sharp angle. However the man on board insisted he did not need any help, and the lifeboat returned to Cowes. The lifeboat had launched at 18:25 and returned to the station at 19:35.
