Gritters are set to be deployed across the Island’s road network during the early hours of tomorrow morning (Friday) due to the predicted low temperatures.
Island Roads has confirmed that its fleet will depart Stag Lane between Newport and Cowes at around 04:00. The gritters will treat all the usual routes.
It comes just hours after the Isle of Wight was hit by soft hail.
Local forecasters IW Met Service say that tonight will see long, clear spells developing and it will become rather chilly, although not quite cold enough for a frost. Temperatures are expected to be 5-6c but as low as 3c in a few sheltered rural parts.
Tomorrow will be a fine, dry and sunny day with just a little patchy cloud here and there through the afternoon. Temperature 10 to 11c.
