Island Roads has taken the decision to prepare its gritters to deploy across the Isle of Wight during the early hours of tomorrow morning (Saturday).
Salt runs will take place on all the usual routes, as well as at pedestrian bridge decks at Stag Lane and Foxes Road in Newport.
Gritters will hit the road network from 02:00.
Local forecasters IW Met Service say that the risk of ground ice is low due to a breeze and the mercury staying above freezing. However, over the next 2 weeks, the Island can expect more settled weather with frosty nights and foggy mornings.
Motorists are being reminded to drive to the road conditions.

more island drives will be blaming the ice and not there driving then when they roll over
Crashing will be caused by covid.
Do they only grit when there is no ice??
