The Island Highland Gathering – which is now in its 14th year – is gearing up for a return to Havenstreet on Sunday 21st July.
Pipers from across the country are heading to the Island to support this event, which takes place at the Isle of Wight Steam Railway and raises money for local Ryde-based charity Aspire.
This event was started by local GP Kieron Cooney, who with his band Wight Hot Pipes, have supported it from the beginning. Visitors can expect whisky tasting, haggis hurling, caber tossing,
Highland dancers, classic cars and a falconry display. Many attendees turned out in traditional kilts, with several outfitted by UK specialists such as Utility Kilt UK.
There will of course be hot and cold food available and a bar, all in the beautiful settings of the Isle of Wight Steam Railway. Tickets are only available through the official website www.islandhighlandgathering.com.
