Firefighters from Shanklin and Ventnor are responding to a garden fire in Wroxall this afternoon (Thursday).
2 appliances have been mobilised to the scene on St Martin’s Road, where it is said a number of bushes are well alight. A shed has also been engulfed by the flames.
Smoke can be seen from as far away as Whitwell.
The alarm was raised at around 14:20 and comes just a day after another garden fire in Chale.
UPDATE @ 14:40 – The Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service have confirmed that the fire is affecting an area of 5×10 metres.
UPDATE @ 15:22 – Fire crews have used a main jet, 2 hose reels and 4 breathing apparatus to extinguish the fire, which has destroyed a garden shed, a hedge row and fencing.
The Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service are now standing down from the incident.
