The Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service are tackling a garden fire at an address in Chale this afternoon (Wednesday).
2 appliances from Newport and a water carrier from Ventnor have been mobilised to a property on Newman Lane, between Chale Lane and Chale Street.
Trees and hedges are alight as a result of an out of control bonfire spreading.
The alarm was raised at around 15:10.
UPDATE @ 16:45 – The fire, which has been confirmed as an out of control bonfire, has now been extinguished.
Island Echo is told that a tree has been severely damaged by the blaze.
No one has been injured.
