The future of the Isle of Wight’s only The Body Shop store looks bleak as the company enters administration.
FRP Advisory has been appointed by owners Aurelius to oversee the administration process, which relates to the UK arm of the brand.
The Body Shop has more than 200 shops across the UK, including on the High Street in Newport. But their future now looks uncertain.
No announcements have been made yet as to which, if any, stores will close. The Body Shop was founded in 1976 and later sold to L’Oreal for more than £650million. It changed hands again in 2017 for £880million, before being sold to the current owners for just £207million in 2023.

Grim how such a wonderful organic concept,spawned in Anita Roddicks own garage became easy prey to vulture capitalists for the requisite fiscal slicing and dicing.A welcome sight on any street with exceptionally good, and back then, affordable products.I don’t really get too sentimental about these things but there will be a major void in the shopping experience if this goes ahead.Another chicken shop for Newport perchance ?
Maybe you should do a a search and read about the actual murky past of Roddick’s Body Shop. You’ll be in for a few shocks.
As far as i am aware the Newport “Body Shop” operated as a franchise, so not sure what happens to them in the event of the parent company entering administration.
Scamming the vain out of their money. Just be happy with the body you’re in, these ‘beauty products’ will not make you beautiful, that comes from within.
