Wightlink has confirmed further cancellations on its Fastcat service between Ryde Pier Head and Portsmouth, with 6 sailings cancelled this evening (Saturday).
The cross-Solent operator pulled a number of sailings on Friday morning as a result of a staff member being absent.
Now, the continued shortage of staff on the catamaran route has led to more cancellations and therefore disruption for customers.
The following sailings have been cancelled today:
From Portsmouth Harbour: 18:15, 19:20 and 20:20
From Ryde Pier Head: 18:45, 19:47 and 20:52

Island people are just an inconvenience to a Mainland company.
Wouldnt have this problem if we had a tunnel,
Probably would if it was run by the same clowns.
Sad but true David.
No, but what you would have is a lot of other problems. This is an ISLAND, fight to keep it an Island. One way is to fight for a service from water transport that works for the Island, if you don’t like living on an Island there is an alternative.
For goodness sake, JUST GET SOME MORE STAFF!
You know what needs no staff? A toll free tunnel.
Problem: there’s always a staff member short.
Solution: employ another staff member.
What am I missing, here?
Is the hovercraft affected?
Because of fuel prices, that are always going up, this will be more common. They save so much money by cancelling sailings that will always do so and use any excuse. If there was a fixed link this would not be an issue. Does not need to be for cars. A rail fixed link would be a good compromise. These pirates need to be cut out of the equation. It is easier to get to Ukraine than it is to get of the island.
