Fun for all the family will be the order of the day when Barton Manor opens its gardens to the public in aid of Earl Mountbatten Hospice.
The event on Sunday 20th July between 10:00 and 16:00 will offer visitors the chance to explore the historic grounds of Barton Manor and enjoy an array of entertainment and attractions on offer.
The event will be themed ‘Go Yellow’ – marking the end of the Hospice’s annual Go Yellow fundraising drive – so everyone is invited to dress up to add to the occasion.
There will be local entertainment by Island musicians, a pop-up café selling a selection of the fare available at the Hospice’s Sunflower Café and a gift shop selling jewellery, bric-a-brac, books and craft items.
There will be a children’s craft tent where you can decorate sunglasses, bags and other items, and entertainment and performances by Dazzle and Fizz Parties. Other attractions include a falconry display and the opportunity to hold a bird with Haven Falconry (display at 12pm) as well as some appearances by very special mystery guests!
English Heritage staff from nearby Osborne House will be offering walks around the Barton Manor grounds – including the barns, pond, Japanese gardens and walled gardens – explaining some of the history of the estate and its royal past.
Hospice friends from Kissy Puppy will also be holding a sale of children’s items and a special children’s tombola and sweet shop.
Jo Blackburn, Chief Executive said:
“It promises to be a fantastic event for all the family and a very special way to mark the end of our Go Yellow fundraising. As you can imagine, the event will have a very colourful feel and we want as many people as possible to enter into the spirit and come in vibrant yellow.
“We are also encouraging people to use the #IWGOYELLOW hashtag during Go Yellow and to let people know they are getting involved.”
Entry is £4.00 for adults but FREE for 14 years and under and parking is free too.
