A total of 4 people remain under investigation for possession with intent to supply class B drugs following incidents that occurred in Binstead back in June.
As first reported by Island Echo, emergency services rushed to Ringwood Road at 05:30 on the morning of Thursday 1st June to reports of a public order incident at the junction with Beatrice Close.
A large Police cordon was erected with officers present in the area for over 24 hours.
During their time at the scene, officers used metal detectors to look for any evidence whilst forensic investigators from Newport CID were called in and took away numerous possessions in evidence bags including a pair of flip-flops.
The next day further developments came to light with confirmation that as part of the ongoing investigation, overnight Police had raided a property on Binstead Lodge Road and located a quantity of suspected cannabis.
A total of 5 arrests were made over the 2 days.
Now, some 3 months after the incident, Police have confirmed that a 25-year-old man who was arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm with intent has been released with no further action.
2 other men – a 31-year-old and a 23-year-old – will also face no further action in regard to the offence of affray. However, they both remain under investigation for possession with intent to supply class-B drugs.
The 2 women involved, an 18-year-old and a 32-year-old, have been released under investigation for possession with intent to supply a Class-B drug.
The 18-year-old is also under investigation for possession of Class-A drugs.
