Police have erected cordons around 2 grassed areas on a residential street in Binstead following a serious incident earlier this morning (Thursday).
Officers are currently present at Ringwood Road, on the corner of Beatrice Close, just off the main Newport to Ryde road.
Island Echo is told that local residents heard commotion, including shouting, at around 05:30.
2 ambulances from the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service and a number of Police units were seen to respond to the incident.
It’s thought at least 1 person has been rushed to St Mary’s Hospital.
A cordon has now been established around a large area of the communal playing field, as well as a grass verge and pavement at the entrance to Beatrice Close. All roads remain open though.
Door to door enquiries are getting underway and CCTV footage is being identified.
UPDATE @ 11:50 – Police have confirmed that 2 people have been arrested on suspicion of affray. As more beings fill the UK daily, stress and crime rise as homes for people are hard to gain, as are doctors, dentist and a pleasant standard of living.
People turn to drink or drugs and crime grows ever worse, with the Police only attending ‘after’ a serious incident.
We need less people arriving, who cause many indigenous to leave towns and villages they no longer feel ‘at home’ in, and move to places like the Island adding to our housing and social problems.
Cure the ’cause’.
So people committing crimes whilst in drink of on drugs is the fault of ‘non-indiginous’ members of the community? Quite jumbled thinking there
I agree,.. but the UK public only has itself to blame.
‘We’ voted in this government and, despite all the years of promises, (according to official figures) ‘Legal’ immigration (that is the ones the gov’ment allow to stay) is higher than ever.
Apparently, (in spite of all the promises and lies, by Johnson etc), when it comes to controlling immigration (or anythign else), Brexit wasn’t the answer!
Perhaps a change of government, to one somewhat less focussed on transferring the last vestiges of any wealth from the poor to the rich, will help.. Perhaps a government more focussed on making things better for the public in general, rather that just their rich ‘friends’…
I just hope the voters remember at the next election
Brexit was always going to increase legal migration because it ended the right for EU citizens to work here. Unlike EU citizens working under their right to freedom of movement, these new immigrants will end up becoming UK citizens, while EU workers remained citizens of their country of origin.
Brexit was always going to increase illegal migration because the French have no interest and no longer have any requirement to stop the boats. You think the average Calais resident would rather they get on a boat or live in a shanty town near their homes?
I assume Moulson “knew what he was voting for”?
Well when you can find one the people will vote. They are all as bad as one another, just want to line their own pockets.
So true les, and as our jails are filled with such, then our courts can now, never again give long meaningful sentences to keep the public safe to any but the very worst criminals.
So due to mass arrivals, crime grows ever worse and people know they can get away with all but the most serious crimes now.
Yet no MP can address the situation as fear of the usual xena or race card ends sensible discussion as will be seen on here, once those awake who already have a buggy full in the family.
What a load of baseless racist nonsense. The island has a a shrinking population and plenty of empty housing. Serious crime is still rare here and long may that continue.
what planet you on
You obviously don’t read or watch the local news, last few days murder and assaults ??
The Island has a growing population. It increased by over 2200 between 2011 and 2021 censuses.
What is worrying is the age mix. The number of those aged over 65 increased by 4,600, while those under 50 fell by over 6000.
Police should definitely be made to start attending incidents before they happen! #PredictivePolicing
Same with Fire and Ambulance they always turn up 30mins before our house catches fire
I agree.
Waaay too many Yanks and Australians coming over, taking our jobs and stealing our wives. That’s what you meant, isn’t it?
Nothing to do with 12 years of Tories stripping our services to the bone. Teresa May did say the Police were “crying wolf” that cuts would impact on services.
Cure the cure. It’s starts at home
Is Ryde the new Sandown
Binstead – the Bronx of Ryde! Ha
Or Ventnor– that’s a xxxx hole too now. Felt very uncomfortable after the sun was going down, lovely afternoon with family but it turned dodgy suddenly.
It’s rotten and not great for tourism or us.
Most of the rock is a xxxx hole
I’d like to do draw the IWC’s attention to the length of the grass on what’s supposed to be a communal playing area . I know it has been ‘no mow May’ but the grass and trees on that land has become so overgrown that it impairs a driver’s visibility trying to navigate that bend. I wrote an email on the council website and it wouldn’t let me submit it- surprise, surprise.
Now that a crime may have been committed there, there’s zero chance it will be addressed any time soon.
It’s long grass like a hay field, you describe it as a jungle infested with violent hill people.
Your eyes should be inbetween the lines bro, no on the grass next to the road lest you add to our monthly total of overturned cars.
The problem is way too many people here full stop really. Nothing for youngsters to do. No money put into resources but people keep coming!
Some are trouble makers as well as our own agreed. Why has it all got worse though over the last year or so? Never had this level of serious crime you’re right. And it is, don’t be naive!
Dangerous driving, assault, murder what more do you need? To tell you we need to put better measures in place to try to prevent it.
There are too many immigrants in this country there’s no denying it and nowhere for them to go of work for them to do. They’re not able to communicate for some times, and I’m not being racist. It’s a fact.
It’s worse than ever here now, get a grip
“Nothing for youngsters to do”!!! Are you on a different island? Are you thick? There is so much for kids to do. They are spoiled for choice on this wonderful island. Still as safe and quiet as it ever was.
Nothing for the youth to do.No youth clubs, concert venues and no proper football ground. All because the island is run by a council that only seems to look after its own kind and the elderly.Welcome to Graveyard Island.
But there are youth clubs and there are loads of skate parks, county grounds parks with open spaces and benches where guess what you can play football, theres beaches swimming pools gyms theres bowling the cinema I really could go on theres a youth safe space in ryde in Newport there really is plenty to do here but in the way of young adults well that’s where the toll is….
Some inconvenient facts for you. All of the increase in the Isle of Wight’s population over the last 12 years has been in the over 60s.
This fact is provable and verifiable.
Not “immigrants”.
Not “scum imported by the council”.
It’s people moving here to retire.
Fact.
Or becoming older like me who was born n bred and lived here all our life. Not every over 60 is imported probably a very small percentage are. So please stop categorising us. We’ve earned our retirement in the place we were born
Your three final words are very appropriate.
The island’s population is decreasing!!!
One look at the photo of the three police and its clear why they are so unable to tackle serious crime in 2023, what actually happened in Binstead, anybody know..Echo perhaps??
Just sounds like some people on drink or drugs had a punch up. Hardly the Bronx is it? Hardly a big deal. Get on with your lives and stop imagining the island has gone to the dogs. Still quiet and safe.
Some words of wisdom at last
