The former F L Lloyd funeral directors in Cowes could be converted into a residential property if plans are approved by the Isle of Wight Council.
Mr Christopher Galbraith has submitted a planning application to the local authority seeking permission to transform the former funeral home at 19a Bridge Road into a 4-bed family property.
The firm, which was established in Cowes in the 1960s, has now closed.
Under the plans, the ground floor will consist of a lounge, playroom, utility room and open-plan kitchen/diner, as well as a downstairs toilet. On the first floor will be 2 bedrooms and another bathroom, with a further 2 bedrooms, a dressing room and en-suite bathroom on the second floor.
The home will also boast off road parking.
A decision on whether to permit a change of use from Class E to a dwelling is expected to be made by the Isle of Wight Council on 10th December.
Who’d have thought that funeral direction was a dying business?
I’m sure once they do it up it’ll be dead nice.
I’d lie in bed at night wondering about the people who used to occupy the downstairs cold room
