Torrential rain this weekend has seen yet more flooding across the Isle of Wight, here’s what Island Echo readers captured.
The Island has been blighted by torrential rain and adverse weather since Wednesday and whilst the worst of the rain and flooding has been and gone, its still been very bad in places – and we aren’t out of the woods yet.
A total of 6 flood warnings are now in place across the Island including in Ryde, Newport, Gurnard, Yarmouth and areas around the Eastern Yar.

It’s sad and I feel for everyone effected but we all need to take action to protect ourselves, the drains can not take the volume of water before we are building and covering out gardens with driveways and Astro fake grass. When the outlets that the Victorian’s built are below the sea levels where do the do gooders expect the water to go?
Maybe now the council will start cleaning out the road drains to let the flood water subside,the fiasco with the £5million flood prevention gates will have to be thoroughly looked into aswell.

The whole issue is down to neglected gullies and drain clearing. A pretty piss poor make do show considering what we are all being charged for, and it not happening. It’s time to boycott these fraudulent charges we are getting for services not received and the money being spent on not fit for purpose useless crap.
What seems mad is the amount of money spent removing st Mary’s roundabout and putting in the lights and it floods? It Has drainage kerbs and still floods? Where do they drain too??

The tractors & trailers carrying loads to the biomass plant at Arreton from all over the island without covers are definitely responsible for blocking road drains. The council do not clean gulleys and drains as much as they used to and farmers used to keep ditches clear.
And they want to build thousands of more homes on this
