Significant downpours of rain overnight and throughout this morning (Saturday) have led to 2 flood alerts being issued for the Isle of Wight.
The Environment Agency says that flooding is possible in areas along the Eastern Yar – between Whitwell and Bembridge.
Islanders are being advised to avoid low lying footpaths or entering areas prone to flooding, such as the cycle path between Sandown and Arreton.
A separate alert has been issued for the Lukely Brook, which flows through Carisbrooke and Newport to the River Medina.
Specific information is not available as the Environment Agency Flood Warning System is currently automated due to industrial action.

Whatever idiot put the sign out near Perowne Way nr the railway bridge
at Sandown should have thought of motorists driving from the esplanade.
You end up getting past Perowne way under the Railway bridge at Sandown and
there’s a sign that says do not go any further.
You then have to drive all the way back up Avenue Road
“PUT A SIGN NR THE LIBRARY SO PEOPLE KNOW THE ROAD IS CLOSED”
