A flood alert for the Isle of Wight coast has been issued by the Environment Agency, but the alert lacks any detail due to strike action by staff.
Islanders are being urged to monitor local water levels and weather conditions and avoid using low-lying footpaths or entering areas prone to flooding.
The Environment Agency issued the flood alert late last night (Thursday) based on rising river and tidal levels. However, no specific detail has been given as Environment Agency staff are carrying out industrial action.
A flood alert is also in force for the Eastern Yar and has been since Monday, with Islanders wanted to be prepared for the river to be higher than normal this week.
However, the alert has not been updated since Monday due to the aforementioned strike action, which continues until 09:00 on Boxing Day (Monday).
Islanders are being urged to monitor local water levels- if it goes above your wellies, be careful.
