Fire crews from Ryde are set to swap hoses for sponges this weekend as they host a bumper charity car wash in support of 2 good causes on the Isle of Wight.
The event will take place at Tesco Extra in Ryde on Saturday 25th April, with firefighters on hand between 10:00-16:00 to get vehicles gleaming in return for donations.
Funds raised will go towards both the Wight Brainy Bunch and the Fire Fighters Charity.
Members of the public are being encouraged to pop along and support the cause, with all proceeds helping provide vital assistance to those in need.
The Fire Fighters Charity offers lifelong health and wellbeing support to the UK’s fire and rescue community, including serving and retired firefighters, as well as control and support staff. The charity focuses on mental, physical and social wellbeing for individuals and their families.
Meanwhile, the Wight Brainy Bunch supports Isle of Wight families affected by brain tumours. The charity was founded by Ryde firefighter Mark Grimes and his wife Kathryn following his diagnosis in 2015, and now provides both emotional support and financial assistance to those facing the disease.
The event is being held with thanks to Tesco Ryde for accommodating the charity fundraiser.

Brilliant idea I’ll be there.
Hope you raise lots of money
Well done Tesco, every little helps.
I will pop along for a sparkle.
