Crews from Hampshire & Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service are tackling a property fire in Cowes this evening (Friday).
2 appliances from Newport and Cowes and the Response Support Vehicle from Newport are on scene at Bridge Road, near the junction with Pelham Road.
It’s understood they are tackling a residential fire within the Bannister’s Garage site.
They were called into action shortly before 17:35.
Cordons have been erected as firefighters work to bring the situation under control.
UPDATE @ 19:03 – Island Echo is told that an explosion was heard just before the fire broke out.
Residents of the house attempted to fight the fire prior to the emergency services arriving.
The situation is under control and just 1 appliance remains on scene.
UPDATE @ 19:49 – Fire crews have now stood down from the incident.
3 people were given immediate emergency care but have not required hospital treatment.
