Firefighters were called to reports of a fire in a residential property in the West Wight area earlier on tonight (Saturday).
Crews from the Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service were mobilised to reports of a kitchen fire on Church Hill, Totland shortly before 23:00.
2 fire appliances – 1 from Freshwater and 1 from Newport – attended the incident after smoke alarms alerted the homeowners to the developing fire.
A dishwasher was the source of the alert, with the fire starting to spread to kitchen cupboards.
Thankfully, due to the quick response, the fire was swiftly brought under control by firefighters wearing Breathing Apparatus (BA) and using hose reel jets.
Crews were on scene for around an hour before returning to station.
Nobody is thought to have been injured.
This incident is another gentle reminder of the importance of working smoke alarms within your property.
