The Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service have been mobilised to a shed fire in Carisbrooke this evening (Wednesday).
3 fire appliances – 2 from Newport and 1 from Cowes – are in attendance at an address on Kitbridge Road, off Westmill Road.
Plumes of black smoke could be seen billowing into the sky prior to the emergency services’ arrival.
Crews were mobilised to the incident at around 21:10.
UPDATE @ 21:45 – A hose reel jet is being used by firefighters wearing breathing apparatus (BA) and appliances are pulling water from a nearby fire hydrant.
A fire officer is now also now in attendance.
The blaze has been brought under control and extinguished; crews are now dampening down.
UPDATE @ 21:45 – A spokesperson for the Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service has said that multiple sheds have been damaged as a result of the blaze with crews checking for any hotspots before standing down from the incident.
UPDATE – It has been confirmed that the fire involved 5 sheds with around 10 motorcycles contained within.
