Firefighters have extinguished a small fire in the open at Ryde Harbour this evening (Wednesday).
1 appliance from Ryde Fire Station was mobilised to Quay Road car park shortly before 20:00 following reports of a fire in amongst the rock armour at the entrance to the harbour.
Once on scene it was clear that some wood and possibly a kayak had been set alight against the sea wall, prompting the use of a hose reel to bring the small blaze under control.
The fire has now been fully extinguished and the retained appliance has returned to station to continue weekly training.
