Firefighters from Newport and Shanklin were mobilised to an electrical pole fire in Atherfield this morning (Saturday).
It was shortly before 11:00 that Hampshire & Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service were alerted to the pole alight on Atherfield Road, between Yafford and Pyle.
2 appliances from Newport and 1 from Shanklin attended the incident and managed to contain the situation.
The scene was handed over to engineers from Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks.






























































































Dont know why all services are not placed underground and in ducting in footpaths .there will not be any need to worry about storms , and new cables can then be renewed through the ducting system , but these companys at our expence will not renew their infrastructure,and rather pay out profit to shareholder.
