FIRE AT THATCH COTTAGE IN BRIGHSTONE


The Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service are attending a fire at a thatched cottage in Brighstone this evening (Saturday).

2 appliances from Newport are currently on the scene.

Emergency services were alerted to the cottage, located off a lane on Limestone Road, just after 18:00.

UPDATE @ 18:40 – The fire, which started on a cooker, was out upon arrival of the first crew.

Firefighters have isolated the cooker and have made the property safe l. They are now preparing to stand down from the incident.

They will shortly be returning to their home station.
