FIRE ALARM SOUNDING AT HIGH STREET PREMISES PROMPTS TURN OUT

The activation of a fire alarm at a retail premises in Ryde prompted an emergency response from Hampshire & Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service this morning (Wednesday).

1 wholetime appliance from Ryde was mobilised to the High Street at around 08:30. At the same time, several appliances from Sandown, Newport and East Cowes were also mobilised to the town.

However, it was quickly established that there was no fire.

Appliances still responding to the scene were stood down en-route with Ryde’s appliance returning to station soon after.
