A kitchen porter from Ryde who was stopped by Police after he ran a red light has been handed 3 penalty points and a £40 fine.
Peter Adams, 41, of Great Preston Road, admitted fail to comply with red light signal when he appeared at the Isle of Wight Magistrates Court earlier this week (6th May).
Prosecutor Lauren McConnell told the court that on the evening of 22nd July 2023, Police on patrol witnessed the driver of a Mitsubishi Mirage run a red light on West Street in Ryde.
Defending himself, Adams told the court that the light was going red at the time of the offence and that he had no intention of running it.
The court heard how Adams was currently banned from the roads following a drink driving conviction in October 2024.
Magistrates handed the 41-year-old a £40 fine and endorsed his driving licence with 3 penalty points.
Adams was ordered to pay costs of £40 and a £16 surcharge fee.

Such a low fine, you pay more with a parking ticket
even though you may have gone just a few minutes over
but you can jump the lights and pay less.
It’s a funny old game
Or worse still smashed into someone !! I have just witnessed the usual Friday night boy racers going at frightening speeds with no care, probably got their pocket money tonight so drugged up or whatever these brainless chavs do, why don’t the Police catch them it’s so easy even a granny like me sees it on the Downs, but I would go ballistic if they crashed into me !!!!!
