The Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service are tackling a field fire in Freshwater this evening (Monday).
Crews have been sent to an open area off Edingburgh Road after 999 reports were received reporting smoke issuing.
Island Echo understands the alarm was raised at around 18:10.
Appliances from Freshwater, Cowes and Newport are on scene alongside water carriers from Freshwater and Ventnor.
UPDATE @ 19:35 – Firefighters have now stood down from the incident.
2 main jets and beaters have been used to bring the fire under control.
