A medical emergency on board Wightlink’s St Clare car ferry, which is currently docked at Fishbourne, is leading to delays on the cross-Solent route this morning (Thursday).
The incident has halted the departure of the 07:00 car ferry, which in turn means that sister ship St Faith is currently unable to dock and is holding off in the Solent.
Those on board the 06:40 sailing from Portsmouth, operated by the St Faith this morning, have been told that there has been a medical emergency but no further details have been shared by Wightlink.
The cross-Solent operator’s service status indicates no issues.
Currently there is no indication as to when St Clare will be able to leave port, nor the impact this will have on the timetable for the rest of the day.
UPDATE @ 07:44 – St Clare has now been able to depart from Fishbourne, albeit 40 minutes behind timetable. This is likely to have an impact on the rest of this morning’s sailings.
St Faith is docking 1 hour and 20 minutes after departing Portsmouth at 06:30 – 10 minutes earlier than timetabled.

UPDATE @ 08:45 – Wightlink is advising of 60-minute delays on its Fishbourne-Portsmouth route.

I’ve no doubt the passenger was suffering from shock after paying the extortionate fare for crossing what is a narrow stretch of water. I hope the passenger recovered.

Again?
Really?
Isn’t it time to build a bridge?
Yes it is, tho the boomers won’t think we’re an island anymore, and as everyone know their feelings are much more important than people actually being able to find work or places to live.
Try just for once saying something sensible.
Go on then bbz ❤️ We’re waiting.
The person taken ill, could have been driving over your dream bridge/tunnel and injured others and caused bridge/tunnel to be closed
Indeed, or not.
Get that tunnel built.
