FEARS FOR MAN SEES POLICE AND COASTGUARD TASKED TO THE NEEDLES


Police and HM Coastguard were sent to a concern for welfare incident at The Needles, Alum Bay last night (Wednesday).

Fears for a man’s welfare were raised with Police, prompting a search to be launched in the area.

The assistance of both The Needles and Ventnor Coastguard Rescue Teams was requested at around 22:45.

The man at the centre of the search was subsequently found on cliffs at the West Wight beauty spot, close to The Needles Car Park.

Thankfully, the incident was brought to a peaceful conclusion and the Coastguard stood down from the incident by midnight.
