A tree lining the carriageway along St Johns Road in Wroxall has taken a battering from the strong gales, falling across the main road from Wroxall to Ventnor this evening (Bank Holiday Monday).
The B3327, which runs between Whiteley Bank mini roundabout and Upper Ventnor, remains open to traffic under ‘give and take’ but may be problematic for larger vehicles.
Island Echo received reports that the tree was blocking 1 side of the carriageway at around 20:00. The tree has come down near the bus stop at the brow of the hill near Coombe Park.
Island Roads have been made aware of the situation and are sending contractors to investigate and remove the tree as soon as possible.
At the time of publishing, Southern Vectis’ route 3 buses are transiting past the fallen tree as usual without delay.
There is an Amber Weather Warning in place with strong winds up to 75mph expected to last until 06:00 tomorrow morning.
Adding to the disruption, Hovertravel and Red Jet have suspended their cross-Solent crossings due to the adverse weather.
