Dr Bita Elford – Master in implant dentistry with cosmetic reconstruction expertise – has joined the team at St James Clinic in Newport. An extremely experienced, passionate, dedicated and well-respected expert within the dental industry, Dr Elford has a wealth of qualifications in master clinical implantology, clinical dentistry, advanced aesthetic dentistry, facial aesthetics and a master certificate in full Invisalign teeth straightening, as well as routine dentistry work. Dr Elford especially works on our more demanding aspects of cosmetic dentistry, smile reconstruction and full mouth rehabilitation. Dr Elford won Best Professional Woman in Business in Wales in 2019, voted by all her patients. Having joined that St James Clinic team in April 2023 as a locum dentist, Bita loved the Isle of Wight and the clinic so much she decided to move here, spreading her time between the Island and Spain throughout the year. Owner Edward Day says:
“St James Clinic has grown from a small practice with one dentist to building a team of 19 members of staff. We are proud to provide the island with affordable private dentistry.”

Should have to take NHS patients.
Should have stayed in Eastenders serving at the Queen Vic
Why should a private business have to take on NHS? This government destroyed the NHS but you want a personal business to take on the responsibility?? Get a get a grip!! Next your be demanding McDonald’s and weatherspoons take good vouchers!!!
Although I agree your sentiment, it was Blair under Labour in 2006 who destroyed NHS dentistry.
Under the old system, dentists were paid for the work that they did.
Under Blair’s introduction they are paid a fixed fee a year for achieving so many Units of Dental Activity.
The energetic dentists run through all their NHS “units” early in the year and then can’t treat any more public patients, therefore only taking on private patients. Some practices went totally private which brings us up to today.
It will be interesting to see how the next government reverse this…..
Just when will we hear a celebration for an NHS practice? probably when pigs fly, Nelson gets his eye back, and last but not least a change of government.
‘affordable’ private dentistry,… To who?
And anyone who can’t afford a private dentist are losers.
To all those getting tax credits or universal credit, by emptying the womb for then the whole family get free dental care. So WHY work full time? Spongers like that are forcing US to all pay more
Only another49 needed.
I had the pleasure of meeting Dr Elford last week and I am so pleased I did ! herself and her nurse Debbie made me feel comfortable the best decision I’ve made so glad I found her
