Students across the Isle of Wight are opening their A-Level results today (Thursday) and finding out what awaits them on the next stage of their educational adventure. As well as A-Level exams, those who took T-Level or VTQs are also picking up their results. The contents of those envelopes will determine whether or not students can attend their chosen Universities or Colleges. To celebrate their success, here’s a collection of results from across the Island’s VI Forms.
Christ the King College
The vast majority (70%) of A level students at Christ the King College achieved A*-C grades again this year, maintaining the College’s consistently high standards. Staff, students, and parents are collectively very happy with the outcomes, which will give the students a firm foundation for the future. With grading returning to pre-pandemic standards it has been a demanding year for students sitting these assessments nationally. Despite this challenging landscape, Christ the King College is delighted to report that even higher numbers of students have achieved A* and A grades than in previous years; an improvement of 6% on last year. It is particularly impressive that students have secured top grades in academically challenging programmes such as Physics, Maths and Classics, with progress in Physics and Classics in-line with the top 10% of students nationally
Head of Sixth Form Hayley Conway-Hughes said:
“Results days often feel like a double edged sword. On the one hand, the young people that we have worked so closely with for two years are celebrating the success of their achievements, and there is the joy that we can share with them when their hard work has been rewarded. On the other hand this is often the last time that we see them. It’s always very sad to say goodbye. “Some of our students have overcome significant personal challenges to achieve the results they are collecting today and we are incredibly proud of all of them. We wish all of our Year 13 students the best of luck and success in the future, and look forward to welcoming them back as successful alumni. Thank you to all of the dedicated staff who have supported them on the journey to this point.”
Cowes Enterprise College Students and staff at Cowes Enterprise College on the Isle of Wight are celebrating after collecting their post-16 results, which have enabled many students to secure places at some of the country’s top universities. Sixth-form students at the academy, which is part of Ormiston Academies Trust, have been working exceptionally hard during the past two years and have shown great determination in preparing for their exams.

I am thrilled at the results achieved both individually and collectively – each student’s success is the result of their hard work, resilience, and commitment. We are so excited to see what they achieve next. “I am grateful to our fantastic staff who have supported every student to achieve their results, while equipping them with the skills and knowledge to flourish after their time with us.”
Island VI Form
The Island VI Form would like to congratulate the 2024 leavers on an excellent set of A level results, which come on the back of a great deal of hard work and dedication from students and staff, alongside invaluable encouragement and support from parents. Several VI Form students are also following other exciting routes into their chosen career paths; pursuing higher level apprenticeships, job-specific training opportunities and full time employment.
Dave Mumford, Head of the Island VI Form said:
“I am immensely proud of the achievements of our students today. They are moving on to a diverse range of future destinations, many at top Russell Group universities. These students are more than just a set of grades though; they are talented, exceptional and inspiring young people and their hard work has really paid off. It is a privilege to have been a part of their educational journey and I look forward to seeing what the future holds for them. “As always, my thanks go to the staff who have worked tirelessly to ensure that the students achieve their full potential.”

Ros Parker, OBE – Principal & CEO of the Isle of Wight College, said:
“We are incredibly proud of our students and their achievements this year and it was heartening to see so many students moving on to the next exciting chapter of their lives.”

Ryde School
Ryde School students excelled in their 2024 A Level and IB exams, with 63% achieving A*-B grades and average IB results surpassing last year’s scores. Ryde School pupils can be very proud of the 2024 A Level and IB exam results. This cohort attained 63% of grades at A*- B which bettered last year’s excellent results. The IB Diploma Programme grades issued earlier in the summer also outperformed last year’s grades with an average score of 33 points, also above the global average. The IB Career-related Programme grades were particularly impressive with 65% pupils achieving a distinction or better in the BTEC part of their programme.
Head Master Will Turner commented:
“We are delighted with the results this cohort has achieved. They are a reflection of the hard work the pupils have put in over the past 2 years and the professionalism and dedication of their teachers. As ever, the wide range of university destinations among this year group reflects the diverse interests of our pupils and how the School nurtures each individual and their ambitions. We have pupils heading off to study traditional degree courses such as English, History, Geography, Law, Economics, Psychology, Modern Languages, Maths, Engineering and Sciences while others have gained places to study the likes of Journalism and Media, Zoology, Interior Design, and Football Coaching and Management. All of us at Ryde School wish our leavers all the best as they move on to pastures new.”
CECAMM – Isle of Wight College Logan Ball, 19, has completed his Engineering course at CECAMM, the Isle of Wight College’s dedicated engineering centre on the Isle of Wight. He said:
“Completing this further education (FE) course at the CECAMM Centre has been a great experience and I’m looking forward to receiving my results. This September I will begin my apprenticeship at GKN Aerospace, but I also plan to continue my studies to complete a Higher National Certificate. My engineering FE course has given me a solid understanding of design and stress applications, which helped me land my apprenticeship. My teachers have been instrumental in bridging the gap between theory and practice, emphasizing the importance of industry experience for my engineering career. I would definitely recommend an FE course to other students for the valuable opportunities it provides. There’s a huge range of subjects taught in FE – whatever your industry of interest, there’s likely a course FE to match them.”
Platform One
Thirty-three students achieved the Level 3 Extended Diploma in Music, which is equivalent to taking three full A Levels. Many students exceeded challenging targets, with eleven students gaining the equivalent of three straight A grades. Education Director David Pontin commented;
“We are absolutely delighted with results again this year. We are proud of the achievements of each and every student. It is fantastic that all of our students will progress to their first choice universities, with some students progressing straight into employment”.
Platform One students are progressing to various universities, including Platform One’s BA (Hons) Commercial Music, which is run in partnership with University of Chichester.
