Firefighters, police and paramedics have responded to Sandown’s York Road this evening (Monday) in response to an emergency incident at a residential property.
Hampshire & Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service has mobilised 2 appliances from Sandown and Shanklin to the scene, with several police units and an ambulance also in attendance.
Emergency services were called at just after 20:05.
It’s understood that the centre of focus is a 3-storey residential property, although the exact nature of the emergency is unclear at this time. Reports to Island Echo have suggested that a female was trying to climb out of the top floor window.
A triple extension ladder has been hauled up to the window.
Cordons have been erected by Police on York Road with the junction of Wilkes Road and at the junction with Sandown High Street.
The road remains closed to both traffic and pedestrians while the incident is ongoing.
UPDATE – Emergency services have now stood down from the incident and all cordons have been lifted.
