Residents within the East Wight area of the Island have reported a power outage this evening (Wednesday).
Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks (SSEN) are aware of a fault in the PO36 area and as of 20:55, 36 postcode areas have been affected.
The fault was logged with SSEN at 20:06 and they are anticipating a full power restoration by 23:00.
Postcode areas: PO36 0AE; PO36 0AR; PO36 0AS; PO36 0AT; PO36 0AU; PO36 0AX; PO36 0BD; PO36 0BG; PO36 0DE; PO36 0DF; PO36 0DG; PO36 0DH; PO36 0DJ; PO36 0DL; PO36 0DN; PO36 0DP; PO36 0DQ; PO36 0DR; PO36 0DS; PO36 0DT; PO36 0DU; PO36 0DW; PO36 0DX; PO36 0DY; PO36 0EA; PO36 0EB; PO36 0ED; PO36 0FA; PO36 0HX; PO36 8DA; PO36 8DE; PO36 8DF; PO36 9FE.
Traffic lights in the area have also been affected including Yarbridge Cross.
A spokesperson for SSEN has said,
“We’re sorry for the loss of supply.
“We currently have a fault affecting the areas listed.

UPDATE – Power has now been restored to all properties.
At 11-45 today I recieved a multi -page breakdown of my account with SSE informing me my monthly payments would be increased by £6 a month from Aug 2019, I have little problem with that, prices rise annualy in everything, However at 78 years of age, it took me considerable time to digest the contents of the documents and start to make arrangements via my on-line internet bank, to cover the forthcoming payment plan when all of a sudden my world collapsed. After what seemed a lifetime looking at a blank screen my first reaction was that I’d suffered a 4 week memory loss and by-passed most of July, but closer inspection revealed it was nothing more than a 45 minute Power-cut! Needless to say,so far no logical reason is forthcoming, perhaps another Duck/Seagull decided to end it all or a power pole leapt out infront of some poor unsuspecting driver….who knows, but on a serious note ,a big thanks to the guys on the ground who have to sort these problems out !
