Reports of animal cruelty taking place in a popular park in East Cowes turned out to be a false alarm, Police have confirmed this evening (Friday).
5 Police units rushed to Vectis Playing Fields off Victoria Grove at 16:56 after officers received a call from a member of the public reporting animal cruelty.
Island Echo readers say that it appeared a dog was ‘hanging from a tree’.
A spokesperson for Hampshire Constabulary has confirmed to Island Echo that they received a call with an animal cruelty report, however officers attended the scene and this was not the case.
No animal cruelty had taken place.
