A 25-year-old man from Ryde has been arrested on suspicion of taking a vehicle without consent following an incident in which he crashed a Honda Civic into a barrier on the dual carriageway today (Wednesday). Police, fire and paramedics were first called following reports of a road traffic collision just past the B&Q junction at around 11:30. At the scene, a red Honda Civic has careered into the hard shoulder coming to rest in the middle of the road – facing the wrong way. At least 3 other vehicles were involved. Island Echo understands that the vehicle was seen driving erratically in the area in the moments leading up to the crash. The occupant of the vehicle – a 25-year-old from Ryde- has been treated at the scene by the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service. He has since been taken to St Mary’s Hospital. Police have confirmed that the driver has since been arrested for taking the vehicle without consent. 
For a short time, the entire southbound carriageway (towards Newport) was closed, but 1-lane has since reopened. UPDATE @ 13:30 – The road has been cleared and the Dual Carriageway has now completely reopened.

More like before jumping to judgement find out facts first! My partner was at work and his car got stole while WORKING hard. This has nothing to do with letting mates borrow it. That was his pride and joy!

Of course that’s what registered keeper will say,if admitted let him -with no license or insurance they would be equally responsible. Same as if you sell a car knowingly that they have no licence you are liable for conviction and points.

No your not actually, you do not have to have a driver’s licence to buy a car you only have to have a licence to drive a car other wise learner drivers who are taught to drive by mum and dad would be screwed for driving lessons and before you come back with they have a provisional licence a provisional licence is not a drivers license its just a permit that allows you to learn to drive under supervision but its not a licence

Car might have lowered suspension which was out, wrong size wheels, crap tyres plus all of the above with speed in wet weather driving a high powered vehicle equals crash like this.

He (the low life scum) drove up and down cutting other drivers up, did a complete u turn and cut more people up the went down the carriageway hitting both sides! Complete lack of respect for anyone! The damage he’s done, the lives he’s put at risk, the people held up, the emergency services he needs a prison sentence but probably just get a small fine! I hope Mr you are reading this and fell some remorse for thinking you can drive like a muppet? You drove like a 1st class idiot and no respect for anyone! How strange, it’s not often you see or hear brainless drivers speeding up and down the dual carriageway with their exhaust pipes exploding. At least if it was something that happened all the time in an area just adjacent to the police station they’d do something about it. Phew, aren’t we lucky this isn’t a regular occurrence!
If the Tories had not removed half the police this moron would have been caught before destroying someone’s car. It looks like has had some money spent on it.
