A 43-year-old woman from Ventnor has been arrested on suspicion of drug driving following a pursuit in the rural roads near Apse Heath in the early hours of Sunday morning.
At around 01:35, officers from Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary spotted a white Peugeot 308 which was being driven in a peculiar manner.
Officers tried to stop the vehicle on Alverstone Road, near Apse Heath, but the vehicle failed to stop. The driver of the vehicle was then located a short time later on Forest Road, Winford.
It has been confirmed that a 43-year-old woman from Ventnor was arrested on suspicion of driving a motor vehicle with a proportion of a specified controlled drug above the limit and failing to stop for police.
She has been released under investigation, pending drug test results.

Being as old as the Island hills I agree with your sentiments, Reg, but what I find interesting and worrying is how drug driving seems to be threatening to equal drink driving going by recent convictions, or is that a blip and not a truism? And this after we reduced the drink driving statistics dramatically by making the practice socially unacceptable. Is it now seen as okay to drug drive amongst an element of the population? Also an increasing number of women seem to be getting caught and charged and convicted for both drink and drug driving. Overner, I do not know what the answer is, society is breaking down with common sense, personal responsibility, consideration for others and a total lack of any self discipline combined with our country and heritage being destroyed in the name of political correctness, recent examples have been a teacher in an all girls school disciplined and humiliated for greeting her female students with “good morning girls” and another being the renaming of the Brecon Beacons because the word “beacons” is seen to condone burning and carbon dioxide release, the raid on an Essex pub by 6 police to remove offensive “golliwog” dolls.

Looking at the numbers convicted, gender has no or little relevance to assaults, drink driving or drug driving. The numbers being caught rely on drivers being “shopped”, or being tested after every little bump or accident. It is rare that the Police actually see bad driving and stop the driver to investigate, although that excuse is used to stop the vehicle.
The only time I’m tearing my hair out in frustration is when I’m stuck behind some dawdling old codger in some crappy Honda jazz or a dreadful Dacia, what do you drive Reg? Micra? Old people should be made to use their free bud pass!
