DRIVER ARRESTED AFTER BLOWING 3 TIMES THE DRINK DRIVE LIMIT

A man has been arrested after being pulled over by Police and blowing almost 3 times the legal drink drive limit in the centre of Newport this evening (Sunday).

At just before 18:00, officers swooped on a red Renault Clio on Orchard Street after the vehicle was initially sighted in Ryde and then tracked down to Newport.

It has been confirmed by Police that the driver was arrested on the spot on suspicion of driving without a licence, driving without third party insurance, driving a vehicle without an MOT and on suspicion of drink driving having blown 101 at the roadside. The legal limit is 35.

The individual has been taken into custody at Newport Police Station for evidential samples to be taken and the vehicle has been seized.
