A 43-year-old man from Shanklin has been arrested on suspicion of possession of an imitation firearm and possession of a bladed article following an incident in Shanklin yesterday evening (Thursday).
Police were called to St John’s Road in the town at around 18:30 after concerns were raised for the welfare of a male.
Officers located a male, who was subsequently arrested having allegedly been found in possession of an imitation firearm and a knife.
He remains in custody at Newport Police Station this morning.
UPDATE @ 16:50 – The male has been named as Andrew Peter Gatcum.
The 43-year-old has been charged with possession of an imitation firearm in a public place, possession of an offensive weapon in a private place, and possession of a knife blade or sharp pointed article in a public place.
Gatcum will appear at the Isle of Wight Magistrates Court on 24th January.
I would like to advise anyone who has an education who are over twenty years young, to get the hell out of this country, if you have no convictions or drug problems, go for it….the future is becoming more grim every day..
