UPDATED: Police on the Isle of Wight have descended on an address in Newport this lunchtime (Monday) following the death of an individual.
Officers have been joined by detectives from Newport CID at a property on Highfield Road, Barton where enquiries are being carried out this afternoon.
5 local Police units arrived at the address shortly before 13:00. The Isle of Wight Ambulance Service are understood to have been called to the area at around 11:30 this morning.
No arrests are thought to have been made but 2 people – possible witnesses – have been seen leaving the property with Police.
UPDATE @ 14:00 – It has been confirmed that a woman in her 30s has died.
A spokesperson for Hampshire Constabulary has said:
”We were called to an address on Highfield Road in Newport at 12:04pm on Monday 25 February following the sudden death of a woman aged in her thirties.
“The death is being treated as unexplained, but not suspicious.
“A file will be prepared for the Coroner in due course.”
Forensic investigators are examining and documenting the scene.
UPDATE TUESDAY – The deceased has been named locally as Natalie Hooper. A file is being prepared for the coroner.
