A main road in Carisbrooke has been partially closed by Police this morning (Friday) following a crash between a tractor with a trailer and a car.
Police have been called to Carisbrooke High Street, just outside of The Co-op following a collision between a JCB tractor and a Skoda.
The crash has seen the tractor – towing a trailer – collide with the rear of the estate car, the tractor’s front hitch piercing the rear windscreen of the family vehicle. The Skoda has sustained significant damage as a result of the smash. Paramedics – including an Operational Commander from the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service – are on scene checking over the involved individuals.
Island Echo understands the vehicle had a dog cage in the boot. It is unclear as to whether a dog was in the vehicle at the time.
Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary has closed the road to traffic coming down High Street from the Waverley roundabout. Traffic heading up High Street from Carisbrooke Road/Cedar Hill remains flowing.
Motorists are advised to avoid the area for the time being.

I put money on it it was the tractors fault they go so fast ..and did we really need to know the country the car was built from????
Yes, that’s almost Trumpian — should the UK perhaps be obliged to impose a tariff on all imported makes of cars?!! Skoda is owned by Volkswagen, isn’t it!
Tariffs are an excuse to finish off businesses and
make people poorer, whilst the so called Elite become
richer.
You wouldn’t get good odds….it’s blatantly obvious. Anyone who rear-ends is automatically at fault.
Reminds me of what the bishop said to the
actress
Lol
Should the tractor even be on the road,
many drive along with no number plates etc
Was the tractor insured to be on the Road!!
Enough is Enough states on several issues. Just in-case you were unaware, we have police to sort these things out. I take it that you have them on the island?
We have a wonderful police force but due to
Government cuts over the years we don’t have enough
of them.
Let’s hope they employ more, the population on the island
is increasing all the time.
