Police have carried out a series of dawn raids across the Isle of Wight this morning (Tuesday) as part of the investigation into the murder of 33-year-old Scott Cooper in January of this year.
Island Echo understands 6 or 7 addresses have all been searched with officers armed with shields forcing entry to the mix of both houses and flats.
Addresses at George Street, Warwick Street and Quarry Road in Ryde have all been searched, as well as at New Street in Newport.
Teams of mainland officers and an entourage of marked and unmarked vehicles travelled across the Solent at first light to join up with local officers in relation to Operation Amaryllis. The operation is investigating the murder of Scott Cooper at a flat on George Street, Ryde in January of this year.
Hampshire Constabulary has not commented on what exactly has prompted this morning’s raids, but has confirmed that officers have been making enquiries as part of Operation Amaryllis. It’s unknown if any fresh arrests have been made.
38-year-old Piers Brazier, who has been charged with Scott’s murder, was due to appear at Winchester Crown Court yesterday (14th March) but the case was not listed. He will now appear on Thursday 17th March.
Forensic teams spent 11 days at the murder scene in Ryde as they pieced together the events that led to the killing of Mr Cooper from Newport, whose body was found on the afternoon of 4th January 2022.
