Phil Delaney has joined Wightlink as Commercial Director, following Clive Tilley’s retirement.
Previously, Phil was Commercial Director at Great Western Railway (GWR) and held senior roles at both Flybe and The Trainline.com.
Regarding his appointment, Phil said:
“With staycations remaining very popular, ferries are in a strong position to win more customers and I’m looking forward to working with colleagues to develop our business further,” .
“There are many parallels between the railway and ferry sectors. Both industries face similar challenges to keep customers happy while always operating safely and efficiently.”
Earlier, Phil was a professional rugby player with Leicester Tigers playing alongside some of the 2003 World Cup winning team.
He adds:
“I am delighted to be joining Wightlink at an important time in the company’s history. I look forward to using my career experience to ensure that our customers can continue to travel between the Isle of Wight and the mainland reliably and in comfort.”

Win more customers??? AS if we have a choice !! Rip off ferries, build a tunnel please !!!
Phil says ‘the ferries are in a strong position to win more customers’
Can I suggest Phil that you would win even more of the prices were lowered.
IMO, Double the ferry prices, Keep the rif raf out ! EVERY LITTLE HELPS…….
“ferries are in a strong position to win more customers”
It’s called an oligopoly, of cause they are in a strong position. No one else can enter the market. Time they get forcefully brought out by the government and start running an essential service for the people of the island and not for the share holders who live half a world away.
Jobs for the boys while we pay the price!
