It was another successful day for Isle of Wight cricket as Ventnor, Ryde, and Shanklin & Godshill all triumphed against mainland opposition on Saturday (23rd July).
In Southern Premier Division 1, Ventnor beat Liphook & Ripsley at Steephill to chalk up their 3rd successive victory.
Liphook won the toss and elected to bat 1st. The mainland side started well with a 111 partnership between Ryan Covey and Henry Amis before Covey was stumped by Ben Woodhouse off the bowling of Dineth Thimodya for 68. Giles Cover was the next wicket to fall, clean bowled by Namish Verma for 31.
Having reached 173 for the loss of just 3 wickets, Liphook finished on 210 for 9 from 50 overs. Henry Amis top scored for Liphook with 82 before being caught by Ollie Morgan off the bowling of Thimodya.
Thimodya was the pick of the Ventnor bowlers with 5/47. Namish Verma took the remaining 4 wickets at the cost of 33 runs. Chris Russell was the most economical of the Ventnor bowlers, conceding just 19 runs from 10 overs.
In reply, Ventnor reached their target with 5 overs to spare. Martin Blackman top scored in the Ventnor innings with 83 not out.

Ventnor’s victory leaves them in 4th place in Southern Premier Division 1 with 183 points from 12 games.
In Division 4 (South) Ventnor 2nds fell out of the promotion positions by losing at Fawley.
Having won the toss and electing to bat, Ventnor reached the respectable total of 261 in their 45 overs, with Neil Westhorpe hitting 108 not out and Toby Noyes an unbeaten half-century.
Fawley 2nds surpassed the Ventnor total with 2 overs to spare, largely thanks to 118 runs from opener Andrew Parratt.

Ventnor’s defeat leaves them 3rd in Division 4 (South) with 228 points from 12 games.
In Hampshire Division 1, Ryde continued their recent good form with a 12-run win against Easton & Martyr Worthy at Harding Shute.
Ryde reached 245 all out in their 50 overs with opener Robert Hobbs top scoring with 47.
Easton were restricted to 233/9 in their 50 overs. Julion Jayerajah had the best bowling figures for Ryde with 4/36.

Ryde’s win leaves them 14th in Hampshire Division 1 with 151 points from 12 games, 9 points above the Division 1 drop zone.
In Hampshire Division 4 (South), Ryde 2nds trounced Mansbridge by 167 runs.
Winning the toss and electing to bat, Ryde 2nds put on 241 for the loss of just 4 wickets. Daniel Attrill top scored for Ryde with a knock of 89.
Mansbridge were all out for 74 in just 20 overs. Mark Tuckwell was the pick of the Ryde bowlers with 5/27.

In Division 3 (South) Shanklin & Godshill 2nds beat Langley Manor 2nds by 4 wickets.
On winning the toss, Shanklin elected to field and looked to be having to chase a large total for victory as Terris and Stanton shared a very fluent century partnership for the 3rd wicket. However, when Terris was dismissed for 66 from 47 balls and Stanton for 50 from 40 balls Shanklin kept the pressure on and Langley Manor were dismissed for 224, only using 38.1 of their 45 overs. M Lambourne led the Shanklin bowlers taking 4 for 48 from his 9 overs with good support from Ben White, who took 3 for 31 from 8.1 overs.
Mark Ringer opening the batting again for Shanklin led the way for a Shanklin victory, scoring a very solid 60. Captain Ben White put the finishing touches to the Shanklin run chase, scoring a very fluent 84 from 76 balls, as Shanklin reached their victory target in the 42nd over to win by 4 wickets.
