Emergency services are at the scene of a collision on the cut through road between Ashey and Brading this evening (Monday).
Police, fire and ambulance crews are all in attendance on West Lane – just east of the dipped S-bend – having been alerted to the incident at just before 17:50.
Firefighters from Ryde and Newport are currently working to free the driver of a blue Ford Fiesta.
Other vehicles on the scene include a Ford Transit Connect and a dumper truck being towed on a trailer by a 4×4, however, it remains unclear at this early stage which vehicles have been directly involved in the collision.
The road has been closed by Police from the junction with Harding Shute to Coach Lane and is expected to remain closed for a large part of the evening.
UPDATE @ 18:37 – Island Echo is told that 1 female is trapped inside her vehicle. As a result, fire crews are working alongside the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service to safely immobilise and extricate the casualty.
UPDATE @ 18:50 – The casualty is now out of the vehicle and in the care of paramedics. She is expected to be conveyed to St Mary’s Hospital, Newport shortly.
Her injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.
The road is now under a hard road closure whilst recovery is arranged.
