A crash on Sandown Road in Lake has resulted in the carriageway being blocked between Newport Road and Cemetery Road this morning (Tuesday).
Police, fire and ambulance crews are responding to the incident near the junction of Flitcroft Gardens.
Hampshire & Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service has mobilised appliances from Sandown, Shanklin and Ryde to the collision, which occurred just before 11:45.
The Isle of Wight Ambulance Service has dispatched a number of resources to the scene, with Police also in attendance.
Motorists are advised to avoid the area.
UPDATE @ 12:10 – A spokesperson for Hampshire Fire Control has said a woman is feared medically trapped within a vehicle and is being assessed by paramedics.
The rear-end shunt has occurred between a Dacia and a Nissan Qashqai.
The road is now open under give-and-take but Southern Vectis buses are on diversion – via Landguard Manor Road.
Although the Hampshire & Isle of Wight Air Ambulance is circling over Lake, it is not thought it is related to this incident.
UPDATE @ 13:30 – Emergency services have now stood down from the incident with the female casualty conveyed to hospital for further assessment.
Southern Vectis has resumed its normal line of route.
