A new monthly breakfast club aimed at supporting veterans and their families has officially launched in Cowes earlier this week, with local civic leaders backing the initiative.
The Veterans Breakfast Club was launched at The Fountain Inn on Tuesday (26th May), bringing together veterans, supporters and members of the local community.
Among those attending the launch were the Cowes Town Mayor, the East Cowes Mayor and the Deputy Mayor, highlighting strong support for the project.
As previously reported by Island Echo, The Breakfast Club will now take place once a month, providing an informal and welcoming space for veterans, their families and supporters to meet, connect and build friendships.
The initiative has been inspired by the success of the Armed Forces Breakfast Club in Netley, which is now in its second year.
The Netley group was founded by ex-Royal Navy veteran Jacqui alongside the veteran’s spouse Brenda, with the club becoming a well-established part of the local community.
Behind the scenes, the wider team of Colin, Del, Brenda, Joe and Jacqui work together to organise activities and support for veterans throughout the year.
One of the group’s flagship events is a free Christmas gathering at St Edward’s Hall in Netley, where veterans and their families are provided with a 5-course dinner and festive goodie bags.
Organisers hope the new Cowes-based club will grow into a similarly valued resource for the Isle of Wight veteran community.
