A Coventry man who was found to be drunk and disorderly in a Newport watering hole has been fined for his behaviour.
Peter Hilditch, 37, of Attoxhall Road in Coventry pleaded guilty to drunk and disorderly in a public place at Isle of Wight Magistrates Court on Tuesday (28th March).
The court heard that police were called to a pub in Newport where PC Martin found Hilditch being restrained by security staff. His eyes were glazed, his speech slurred and he smelt heavily of intoxicating liquor.
PC Martin was hoping to de-escalate the situation by dearresting Hilditch but he remained uncooperative and was taken into custody for being drunk and disorderly in a public place.
Prosecuting, Tom Corke told the court that the defendant had 1 prior conviction for drunk and disorderly as well as an unrelated juvenile charge.
Defending himself, Hilditch admitted the offence and apologised to the court for wasting their time. In mitigation, he also pleaded guilty at the first available opportunity.
He was ordered to pay a fine of £184 plus £85 costs and a £74 surcharge.

So when a mainlander kicks of on the island, the usual suspects that appear on this comments section slagging off the island resident’s, are nowhere to be seen. Funny that!
This is a local island, for local people. We’ll have no trouble here.
