The main road through the heart of Carisbrooke is to be closed for the next 2 weeks to enable Southern Water to repair a collapsed sewer.
It’s said that the sewer has failed around 5 metres below the surface on Carisbrooke Road. It is described as a complex repair.
The around-the-clock closure between Wellington Road roundabout and Cedar Hill will come into force tomorrow (Wednesday) and continue for a period of 2 weeks.
A 2-way diversion will be in place using Priory Road, Gunville Road, Forest Road and Medina Way.
Adam Wilds, County Customer Manager for Southern Water, says:
“We’re sorry for the disruption these works may cause customers.
“Unfortunately, our teams are having to dig down five metres to carry our this complex repair. This means the work could take up to two weeks to complete – but we will do what we can to complete it sooner.”
The timing of the works was chosen to avoid the Easter Bank Holiday period, after the issue was discovered last week.
Work will take place on site between 07:30-19:00, Monday to Friday – with some Saturday working possible.
What’s the betting when these cowboys have completed
the works, they will be back again!
Odds on I say.
Did you hear about the old man from Ryde who fell down a sewer and died he had a brother who fell down another now there inturd side by side
That’s a good one, did you hear about their
sister, she worked for a lift company and got
shafted.
Looking on the positive … does that mean buses will be serving Forest Road?
