COASTGUARD RESPONSE OVER FEARS THAT FESTIVAL TENT HAD FLOATED AWAY

Published at:

Ventnor Coastguard Rescue Team and Cowes RNLI were involved in a search of the River Medina late last night (Thursday) over fears a tent had floated away with the tide.

Solent Coastguard requested the launch of Cowes’ Atlantic 85 lifeboat at 22:50 after receiving reports that a tent that was pitched on the foreshore at Island Harbour had disappeared when the tide rose.

With fears that one or more people may be in danger, the lifeboat conducted a shoreline search of the River Medina alongside colleagues from the Coastguard Rescue Team.
