Ventnor Coastguard Rescue Team responded alongside Sandown & Shanklin Independent Lifeboat to reports of a capsized yacht off St Catherine’s Point earlier this afternoon (Monday).
A 999 call was received by Solent Coastguard reporting the vessel is in difficulty off the most southerly point of the Isle of Wight.
Coastguard Rescue Officers (CROs) from Ventnor were quickly on scene and observed a zap cat making its own way ashore.
Welfare checks were carried out and all persons were found to be safe and well. Safety advice was given to those involved.
A spokesperson for Ventnor CRT has said:
“The 999 caller did exactly the right thing in this instance and reported it quickly – luckily the person made it ashore safely but things can turn different quickly”.
