HM Coastguard was alerted to reports of a dog over the cliff in the Freshwater area yesterday afternoon (Monday).
Ventnor Coastguard Rescue Team were paged at 16:03, alongside their flank team at The Needles, to an incident unfolding in which a dog had been reported to have gone over a cliff in the vicinity of Fort Albert.
However, both teams were stood down having received news that the dog had been reunited with its owner with a successful outcome.
Teams returned to their home stations and were put back on pagers.
